Integration of Women into the Labour Market by Building New Skills

Although women have made extensive progress in working life, rate of unemployment is still higher for women than men in EU in general. Women face more barriers in life from education to social responsibilities that may prevent them from fully participating in work/business and that situation is more pronounced when it comes to women from ethnic minorities, immigrants, women with disabilities or with socio-economic disadvantages. In spite of progress, as EUROPE 2020 points out, Europe's employment rates–at 69% on average for those aged 20-64–are still significantly lower than in other parts of the world. Only 63% of women are in work compared to 76% of men. EU is facing an economic crisis which can be solved through creating more jobs and better lives for all its citizens. Smart, sustainable and inclusive growth is only possible by including women; a large and crucial population in the EU, who are doing very important jobs: raising future generations. Creating a better economy and better life conditions for them will not only have an impact on general economy but also on well-being of future generations. Following "agenda for new skills and jobs" to modernize labor markets and empower people by developing skills throughout the lifecycle with a view to increase labor participation and better match labor supply and demand, project aims to create options for women including young women, women who are new in job market, elderly women who may be new at or returning to work, women with disadvantages. By providing an open and friendly environment project seeks to involve women in entrepreneurial activities and give them chances to improve their skills, learn about business life, create soft skills, provide networking for them, teach social media use and support them through mentoring activities. The holistic approach of training, mentoring support, job shadowing and social media use along with creating support networks for them will enable these women to start off in work life, open new businesses and participate in society as active and stronger individuals. The consortium is made up of UK, IE and DE partners who transfer the results that have been successful in their countries and TR, IE and DE to implement the transfer and materials. Consortium is made up of different type of organizations to allow better implementation of the results, extensive research in the field and to disseminate widely. Results will include a networking and support web site, comparative research reports, adaptation of teaching materials and workshops, mentoring guides and social media training and customization. It is envisaged that impact will be large and reach a wide population of women as well as create stakeholder awareness in partner countries. Through the project, more women will attain jobs; more women will be starting new businesses and be empowered.
