Integration of people with special needs to healthy community is a long process that requires a lot of effort.It is noted that people with special needs in community are left behind and they alienate from healhty people by joining unformal or formal organisations for people with disabilities.We are aiming by this project to integrate people with special needs to the communities of Zarasai and Daugavpils regions through cultural-artistic activities such as dancing,singing,performing and handicrafting.Daugavpils and Zarasai districts started to work on this in year 2002 by attracting people with special needs to participate in young designers Forum "Young art" in Zarasai.Continuing the Latvian and Lithuanian cultural cooperation between Daugavpils and Zarasai it's been decided to integrate as much people with special needs as possible to cultural activities of communities where the main language used is the language of art and people with disabilities can the best to adopt and express it.To this project will be attracted healthy people and people with special needs from Zarasai town and region's villages –Turmantas and Suviekas,as well as people with dissabilities from Daugavpils region as the whole and other villages –Viski and Demene.Project's objective is to develop the artistic skills of people with special needs in collaboration with healthy members of communities through continuing dance, singing, theater and crafting trainings.Main tasks:1.To teach healthy members of communities tolerance to people with special needs through cultural activities and artistic experience sharing;2.To develop self-confidence and artistic skills of people with disabilities through collaboration with healthy people;3.Create the cultural conditions for integration of people with special needs to the communities.Results: 1.through cultural activities to communities integrated 52 people with special needs;2.created the basis for employment of the members of the communities in the field of culture that leads to strong cooperation,orientated to solving social problems within communities;3.established the need of collaboration relations and looked for possibility for future cooperation between members of the communities and people with disability(LT,LV).Zarasai and Daugavpils regions will continue close long-term cooperation by working together on creation of apparel collections,development of artistic activities,handicrafting,creation of joint performances that combine dance,vocal and designing art abilities.During this project healthy people will be teached tolerance to people with special needs,will be created feeling of healthy climate,promoted volunteering to assist people with disabilities.All this will help people with special needs to adapt to the rhythm of life in the communities. Expected Results: Quantitative interactions:5 festivals(180 part.),1 fair(80 p.),1 plen-air(30 p.),14 classes(189 p.),1 conference (70 p.),1 trip(30 p.),1 forum(175 p.),1 camp(30 p.), 1 exhib (40 p.);All events orginised for joint activities implementation.1/3 people with special needs;20 000 visitors.Qualitative:People with special needs will become active communities members,will be integrated to the community.Closer cooperation will be established between the regions and their people.
