Inspirating Ideas from Europe
Date du début: 1 juin 2016, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Inspirating Ideas from Europe is a consortium project of six schools from Suonenjoki and Rautalampi municipalities. There are thirteen pre-, primary- and secondary school teachers involved in this project in the sphere of general education. The schools are now ongoing an extensive curriculum reform, in which international education plays an important role. Schools need support, networks and increasing of the teachers' expertise in embedding the European dimension in school curricula and operational culture of different schools. The aim is to involve the global education in our schools as a natural part of the school life. Curriculum reform, phenomenon-based learning requires, for example, the pursuit of practical skills in intercultural encounters. With the help of this project, the teachers' international skills, as well as the schools and the pupils' knowledge, skills and interest in internationalization will increase. Pupils' "citizen-of-the-world" education is important because of, for example, an increasing number of refugees currently found in our schools. With this project we seek to deepen professional competence of teachers, to improve the quality of teaching with the help of high-quality European in-service courses and training events, to support teachers career development through creating European networks of professionals of different fields, and to strengthen the ability to use foreign languages in our teaching. European courses and training events support teaching at school, and at the same time provide European viewpoint to our work. The aim is to search ideas for new learning partnership projects, to increase the teachers' language skills and ability to promote multiculturalism, to develop skills in various subjects as well as the introduction of new technology in education. The development of ICT skills and capabilities, the introduction of functional teaching methods and different learning games have a central role in continuing education courses. International projects develop the quality of teaching, and motivate both teachers to develop their own work and pupils to interact in an international setting. Increasing teachers' knowledge and skills in teaching multicultural groups and immigrant students is a need that is tackled in all mobilities.Teachers involved in this project get European educational contents in different countries, new teaching methods and strategic tools for their school to internationalize. In-service training aims at building projects at an organizational level and creating European in-service training courses. Our future hope would be able to offer our own Erasmus + in-service training courses to participants of other European countries. With this project we aim to support the career development of individual teachers as European experts able to work internationally. We are applying for a job shadowing -period for two teachers and in-service training courses or events for eleven teachers. The mobilities will be distributed in the years of 2016 and 2017. The participants have chosen the in-service courses themselves on the basis of their professional needs, and will take care of the travel arrangements themselves since they all are professionals with sufficient language skills. The aim of this project is to connect those teachers who are interested in internationalization with each other and to inform their experiences and new knowledge to the staff of local schools, the people living in the region and colleagues in the area at the minimum. Also, Erasmusl projects that cross municipal and sectoral borders, for instance in cooperation with municipal youth work, are future aims of development for us. With the help of this project, we also strive for creating a multicultural procedure at school, and enhancing the interest of people to internationalization. There is a lot to be done in this sector in the rural area, because at the moment there is little courage to embark on international projects.
