Inside the Turkey-EU Relations
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2019 PROJET  TERMINÉ

With the conclusion of the Joint Action Plan in 2015 the partnership between the EU and Turkey has entered a new phase. The growing relevance of EU-Turkey affairs is accompanied by the demand to analyse recent developments and to integrate them into teaching.INSITER – “Inside the Turkey-EU Relations” – facilitates innovation and excellence in teaching and research by offering a module that takes students form Turkey and the EU inside and on the sites of EU-Turkey relations. Coordinated by academics who have obtained their PhDs in the last 5 years, INSITER foresees each year:1. An introductory lecture on the political system of the EU;2. Multidisciplinary seminars on (a) the EU and Turkey in the world, (b) foreign policy analysis and (c) current EU-Turkey relations;3. Study visits to Ankara and Brussels to meet practitioners;4. An international simulation exercise of an EU-Turkey summit with EU partner universities;5. An international conference and public lectures/roundtables to discuss EU-Turkey relations with experts from academic and professional circles;6. Research by students and staff geared towards learning objectives;7. An e-learning platform;8. A project website, a brochure and a communication database for dissemination;9. A strong connection to existing networks such as the Horizon2020 research project FEUTURE on EU-Turkey relations.INSITER thus closes the gap between theory and practice by combining studies with the opportunity for first-hand insights and soft skills training in EU-Turkey relations in various dimensions, e.g. the refugee crisis, accession, energy and security.INSITER also targets TAU as a pole for EU-related studies in Turkey: It enables young researchers to implement a module that adds academic value and a new EU-Turkey focus to the existing programme. It ties the young university to the European higher education area and strengthens its visibility and ability to provide internationally competitive teaching and research.
