Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our school labelled « lycée d’Europe » / « Europe school » trains every year 550 vocational students in catering among which 48 are taking the BTEC National Diploma option English language. ISSUES: The field of catering requires skilled and well-trained young employees who speak fluent English. The 2014/2016 Erasmus + programme was the best solution to find the potential candidates. OUR NEEDS: It is necessary for the second and the third year of BTEC National level students to do a 5 week internship for 2 consecutive years in an English-speaking country. Students draw benefits from this project: 21 future waiters and cooks (group 1) from the second year of BTEC National level undertook their first training period in Norway in April/May 2015 ; 16 among the latters went to Ireland during the months of September and October (group 2), and 10 of them to Iceland during January and February 2016 (group 3). 24 students from the third year of BTEC National level went to Norway (group 4) in April-May 2016. 3 wine waiter students were granted the exchange programme with group 1. OUR GOALS FOR THE GRANTEES: The aim for those who went alone to their work placement location is to help them to become more autonomous and to improve their English speaking level and to become open-minded students. To fulfil their studies 9 of these students undertook further College studies. Most of them easily obtained a job. In 2015, 91.67% of them passed their Baccalaureat exam. VOCATIONAL SCHOOL’S GOALS: We succeeded to respond to our academic hierarchy ambitions in the sense that we outnumbered the groups of European section students up to 4 groups. Our school has been working hand in hand with the host school of kristiansund since 2009 and the Borgung school of Alesund in Norway and the Reykjavik school in Iceland in 2016. Our European section programme was successful since 100% of the students spent their training period in an English-speaking country. By the way, we succeeded to fulfil our contract with hotels and restaurant enterprises which are partners with the catering national academy and to crown it all 4 students from our school took part into a catering competition. To promote the European section in our school, several events like brunch and European cocktail parties were organised with the involvement of different persons: teachers and educational staff. Moreover not only teachers of English language and catering teachers accompanied our students abroad but also other colleagues were invited to participate in this European programme. FOR THE HOST COMPANIES: welcoming our students during - 6 weeks with one doing professional and cultural activities in the 2 high schools/ partners in Norway followed by a 5 weeks training in 13 host hotels in Norway managed by our host partner, - 4 weeks in 9 hotels in Ireland - 4 weeks in 3 hotels in Iceland managed by Reykjavik high school with one day per week in this school.
