For many years Domžale primary school has paid special attention to various projects related to sustainable development and sports. But at present our biggest deficits are mainly in the introduction of innovations in the process of teaching and the presentation and application of new approaches and methodologies into teaching practices. For this reason we aim to participate in the staff mobility project with the topic of innovative approaches in education. The selected topic includes seminars related to school development, innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching foreign languages (CLIL, creative methodology), teaching natural sciences (field research, experimentation, nature tours, etc.), as well as innovative approaches related to teaching different subjects at all levels. We aim to acquire new skills and new knowledge in contemporary pedagogy, which will contribute to the improvement of school development and management, new methods of teaching, improved learning performance and, consequently, the students’ increased motivation and satisfaction. Our objectives are to present and pass on the learning outcomes of participants (experiences, ideas, opportunities, etc.) to the rest of the pedagogical staff and implement the innovative approaches and teaching methods as well as potentially include new acquired methodology throughout the curriculum. The learning outcomes will be presented to the rest of the pedagogical staff (through various seminars, workshops, interdisciplinary collaboration and activity days) and to the local community (study groups, collaboration with neighbouring schools, school partnerships, ...). The second objective is to meet potential partners and partner schools from abroad for future collaborations (student exchanges, strategic partnerships). Such forms of cooperation will undoubtedly lead to a better student initiative, encourage greater flexibility for teachers and create changes in school management, which would later lead to better student mobility and employability in the European labour market. The mobility project includes six participants from various fields of teaching, who have demonstrated the highest motivation and desire to learn new methodologies and practices in the field of innovative approaches in teaching. The participants in the project are the school’s headmaster; project manager, a teacher of English and Spanish and head of foreign languages department; a teacher of science and environmental education and head of environmental projects at the school; a 4th and 5th grade teacher at the branch school and head of a study group; a teacher of English and German and project manager for school partnerships; and a teacher of English and Spanish and head of the debate club. All the participants constantly apply the knowledge that they have acquired through various seminars, conferences and other training courses to their teaching styles, so the implementation of new learning outcomes will not be a novelty. The mobility project will include a number of different activities that we have already planned. These activities include an action plan to identify all the activities and tasks before the mobility, activities during the mobility and activities after the mobility that include the recognition of learning outcomes and dissemination. The implementation of newly acquired experiences, ideas and competences will be evaluated in the school’s annual reports. The integration of acquired learning will be monitored by the school’ management and the National Agency responsible for learning mobility of individuals. By participating in the mobility project we hope to meet potential partners for future collaborations in school partnerships (K2). The valuable international experience would benefit both pupils and teachers and insure the future improvement in the quality of teaching. We hope that all the knowledge (new experience, approaches in teaching regarding innovation) gained in the mobility project will be passed on to other school staff and colleagues from the local community. The intention is to develop an intercultural awareness and cooperate with partners form different European countries. We aim to develop a new understanding of teaching in the modern society and create new opportunities for cooperation within Europe. Therefore, it is our desire to get as many ideas and learn about the different ways in which all these objectives can be achieved for a richer future development.
