The aim of the project “Innovative teaching methods for a creative education process” is to step back from traditional teaching methods and to study and create new innovative teaching methods for subjects like math, nature sciences and foreign languages, as well as to apply them in everyday lessons. The number of teachers involved in the project is 23. Teachers involved in this project teach math, nature sciences and foreign languages, and are already using creative methods in their lessons. All teachers are motivated to participate in the project and create more innovative learning methods. Tasks of the project: 1. To find out about innovative teaching methods in partner schools. 2. To invent own creative work methods that could also be interesting and useful for other schools. 3. To use innovative learning methods in own school and partner schools in order to share experience. 4. To summarize the results about the impact of innovative teaching methods on the quality of study process. 5. To share the innovative work methods with the European schools to improve the quality of education process. Activities of the project: 1. The teachers will travel to Europaschule Rövershagen (Germany) to observe lessons of their subject. In Germany, math teacher from Riga Teika Secondary mschool will present lessons titled „Maths in a forest”, teacher of nature sciences will present lessons titled „Nature sciences in nature”, and teacher of English will carry out creative lessons in English. 2. Teachers will travel to Turkey to observe lessons, paying special attention to creative work methods that promote the development of talented students and work with students that are not very successful in their studies. To share creative teaching methods, teachers from Riga Teika Secondary school will present creative lessons for Turkish students. 3. Teachers will travel to courses in Slovenia, where they will learn creative work methods adopted from Edward de Bono innovative teaching methods. 4. A teacher will travel to Germany to take the course “Creative lessons in German as a foreign language: Methods and practical application”. This activity will be combined with observing creative lessons in Dusseldorf schools, and will give new experience necessary for implementing innovative methods in Riga Teika Secondary school. 5. Teachers will travel to Richard Language College in Great Britain to improve their English and find out the latest creative work methods in teaching foreign languages. Gained knowledge about the methods will be later used in foreign language lessons in school. 6. Teachers of math, nature sciences and foreign language will start using the innovative methods they have learnt and created in Riga Teika Secondary school, and in a while these methods will be implemented in other school subjects in order to make all lessons exciting and innovative for students and therefore developing the skills and talents of all students. The project will bring many positive results. Innovative teaching methods will motivate all students to study, including talented students and students who are not motivated to study when traditional teaching methods are used. Teachers will learn new innovative teaching methods: the theory will be learnt in courses, while practical knowledge will be gained by lesson observation in partner schools. Teachers will gain necessary knowledge and skills about innovative work methods, as well as they will learn how to apply the innovative methods. They will also broaden their knowledge about education systems in other countries, learn about work in other schools, obtain new experience in the use of innovative teaching methods and share their experience in innovative teaching methods. This will promote both the improvement of education quality of the partner schools and internationalization, as various methods will be adapted to different cultures and languages. Teachers will recognize internationalization as the key to real innovative growth of education and become ambassadors of innovative teaching methods in Europe. Teachers of the Riga Teika Secondary school will demonstrate open lessons both to Latvian and European teachers who will come to Latvia to exchange experience, as well as to foreign pedagogy students who have their praxis in Riga Teika Secondary school. Materials from the project will be published on eTwinning platform and other Internet sites. DVD’s with project materials will be available at the school’s library and will be distributed to teachers in Latvian and European schools.
