Balvi Public High School is a methodological support school for Balvi, Baltinava and Rugāji Districts in Latvia, establishing itself as one of Latvia’s leading progressive and dynamic educational institution. The school currently provides the educational foundation for 306 students, grades 7 to 12, under the instruction of 47 pedagogues, granting an ideal student-teacher ratio. Four educational tracks are offered at the school, including such programs as Technical Drawing/Drafting, and Enhanced English Studies, under the guidance and instruction of American and Canadian teachers. Commencing in the upcoming 2014/2015 academic year, select lessons will be taught bilingually. Our school operates as a community methodological learning centre for all educators within the three adjacent municipalities. We offer a wide range of extracurricular facilities and activities designed for creative, physical and emotional growth for both students and staff. On school campus we have both a swimming pool, and a school museum, housing several exhibition rooms. We implement a Youth Guard Education Program and are host to staff under the guidance of the Impossible Mission Program. Our school is also a prospective co-participant in a Global Education Project, an ERASMUS affiliation could become an excellent sample of succession and realization of international projects. Pending approval, 8 pedagogues representing each of the methodological commissions and their representative principal, have the opportunity to broaden and enhance their professional skills, in four European countries; Italy (4 different courses), France (2 different courses), England (1 course) and Portugal (1 course). The Overall Aim of the project is to foster the professional development of people involved in the teaching process through Information Technology, languages and school management in order to prepare students for the Europen future global educational net through educational process of internationalization. The Project Aims are to: 1. foster Balvi Public High School's internationalization and fulfillment of inovations through international cooperation using Information Technology and languages 2. raise management skills and competences of staff 3. popularize and internationalize the methodological experience of Balvi Public High School. The Main Activities are to: 1. establish a project's guidance team 2. prepare for the mobilities/exchange of experience trips (method of Study Circle, Europass documents, preparation maps, correspondence with course organizers etc.) 3.implement exchange experience trips for 8 pedagogues 4 disseminate foreign academic, professional and life-experience knowledge and skills. The successful accomplishment of this project will raise the capacity of people involved in the process of education and management through improvement in Information Technology, languages and school management.
