Some of the students of a modern school are initially, naturally enthusiastic and eager to learn. Some, however, await for inspirations, challenges and stimula adjusted to their abilities. The project: ‘Innovation of methods as the key to a student’s and teacher’s motivation’ has been initiated from a deep need of a group of teachers who wish they could use innovative teaching methods in order to increase the chances of the youth in achieving better results. This, in a broader perspective, will help them to compete fairly in the European market. We are vibrantly acting local school with a great educational and sports base. We have experience in international exchanges and we take part in EU projects, such as Erasmus+ ‘CLIL –Discover the World throuh the languages’ and Comenius – Learning Mobility of Individuals. We cooperate with the Polish community in Romania in terms of common youth exchanges with the school in Cacica on the region called Romanian Bukovina. Previous exchanges and mobilities gave us an impulse to try something new. We are creative and ambitious, we diagnose the needs of our pupils and want to improve our skills and qualifications. We want both our urban and rural pupils to have equal chances in education and on the labour market in the future. The participation in the project is the chance for our school to initiate a range of actions, which will have a positive impact on the value of the teachers, pupils and the school itself. Thanks to mobilities the teachers will be able to learn a new language, innovative and modern teaching methods, as well as the geographical features of EU countries. Thanks to better language skills, practical observations of different information technologies and innovative teaching methods which refer to students’ cognitive skills, the motivation of both students and teachers will increase. The teachers included in the Project are: foreign language teachers, Art, P.E., Polish, Biology, IT, Chemistry, Science, Geography teacher as well as common room educator. Intensive general English courses done during preparatory proceedings will enable the participants to take part in methodological and specialist courses abroad. Each of the participant will be earnestly prepared to the courses. The teachers will gather necessary materials taking into consideration the requirements of the course and the subject they teach. Thanks to the participation in the Project, our staff will perpetuate and enrich the knowledge and skills they have already gained. They will make their lessons more attractive by teaching interdisciplinary with the elements of English language, by using variety of modern information technologies as well as methods which allow students to quest to get some answers and use their cognitive skills (IBT, ICT courses). Study visits and job shadowing in European schools, observing lessons and teaching methods, learning about good practices, learning how to work with special needs children, all of these will improve the quality of the teachers’ workshop, and motivate them to go for new solutions and use innovations. The teacher will find him/herself “closer” to students and their needs. Extending the influences on P.E. classes will enable the teachers to find the way to cooperate with demotivated students who are frustrated because of everyday failures. Furthermore, introducing good practices, coming from European Union schools, sharing the knowledge with the other teachers and the management will make our schools competitive and successful in a local society. Gimnazjum no 4 in Wolbrom will be the first parents’ choice because their children will get the key to core competencies and future development.
