The ITE (Innovation through education) project represents our big step towards becoming the leading educational centre of the Eastern Croatia. We aim to improve our school’s international dimension and thus, with help of the European networking and funding, boost our teachers’ and students’ prospects. Being a vocational school, we are committed to educating socially responsible professionals who will eventually contribute to developing economy and reducing unemployment in the local community. The project objectives are: improving ICT skills and competencies of the staff, enhancing quality in education, modernizing our education system, fostering learning through technology, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, internationalising the school, increasing the number of EU partners and promoting mobility and lifelong learning. Three teachers will attend the course „Teaching creativity in schools, inspired by Edward de Bono“ and develop skills and competencies of how to lead creative and constructive thinking sessions in the classroom, how to use a variety of de Bono’s thinking tools, how to implement problem oriented approach in teaching methods, and how to apply creativity outside the classroom. Two teachers will attend the course „Leadership in secondary education“ and acquire knowledge and understanding of the education system in Finland, improve management skills and finally, gain competence in developing plans for modernisation of our school. Three teachers will attend the course „Using tablets for teaching outside the classroom“ and become skilled in using smartphones and tablets in outdoor education. They will master specific programmes and use them both inside and outside of the classroom. As a result, all the above will increase the international visibility and enhance the European development plan of the school.
