Innovation in Early School Leaving

Early School Leaving project which had the following aims and objectivesMain aims and objectives achieved:• Established a network of European VET organisations to facilitate the import and export of best practice to improve the quality of training for people at risk of / who are ESL• Shared best practice within the partnership through delivery of 5 workshops aligned to the key issues affecting early school leaving• Produced corresponding best practice manuals• Enabled partners to observe the application of best practice through benchmarking visits that were facilitated within the workshop schedule• Involved key stakeholders including beneficiaries, parents, employers, funders during project implementation and dissemination activities• Enabled all partners to import and apply at least 1 innovative aspect of best practice within their organisation• Shared learning from the programme by hosting local and European dissemination events and by making all products freely available on the InternetReason for projectEurope 2020 strategy has a headline target to ‘Reduce early school leaving to less than 10% by 2020, from 13.5% in 2011’.This project allowed the transfer of innovative practices in this field across Europe, including targeting of countries where the early school leaving rate is significantly above the EU2020 target, e.g. Turkey, Portugal, Italy, Romania.Characteristics of consortiumPartners were selected through their ability to integrate innovative practice with regards ESL at organisational, sectoral and geographical level.
