Indigo: an identity project, imagining ourselves in our own terms
Date du début: 1 août 2016, Date de fin: 30 juin 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

‘Indigo’ is a project which will use theatre, dialogue, and artistic collaboration to explore young people's understanding of their identity as young people, particularly regarding gender and sexual orientation. We will work with 15 Irish and 15 Greek young people aged 16 - 21. We aim to:• explore issues of self-image and youth identity using creative methods of youth-work and group-work• raise awareness of factors that have an impact on youth identity and self-image (such as popular culture, music, all types of media, peer groups, national culture and tradition, gender stereotyping, family, and school).• suggest actions the young people could do that would develop their ability to shape their own identities comfortably, and in a stress-free way, leading to positive mental health• showcase the work of the groups who are members of youth theatre projects and are young artists. This work is themed around gender.• bring young people together with professional artists and youth workers to create collaborative youth theatre and dance presentations based on the themes explored during the project • build on previous relationships between the partners and the young people to further integrate each group with their European peers. The project will occur in Athens, Greece, in Kinitirias Studio. Workshops will commence on Monday 1st August and conclude with a public creative presentation and a discussion forum on Saturday 6th August. Each group will also bring a prepared creative presentation to be staged during the week for the rest of the participants and for invited audience members who have an interest in Europe, or youth identity. All of the presentations will explore the theme of self-image and identity, especially focusing on how young people are defined and perceived by the media, their peers, and our cultures.
