INcreasing Security and Protection through Infrastructure REsilience (INSPIRE)
Date du début: 1 nov. 2008, Date de fin: 31 janv. 2011 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The INSPIRE proposal aims at enhancing the European potential in the field of security by assuring the protection of critical information infrastructures through the identification of their vulnerabilities and the development of innovative techniques for securing networked process control systems. To increase the resilience of such systems INSPIRE will develop traffic engineering algorithms, self-reconfigurable architectures and diagnosis and recovery techniques. Therefore, the core idea of the INSPIRE proposal is to protect critical information infrastructures by appropriately configuring, managing, and securing the communication network which interconnect the distributed control systems.A working prototype will be implemented to be used as final demonstrator of specific scenarios. Involved experts will support project partners in the validation and demonstration activities, thus enhancing the effectiveness of such multidisciplinary consortium. INSPIRE will also contribute to standardisation process in order to foster multi-operator interoperability and coordinated strategies for securing lifeline systems. In order to achieve its objectives, INSPIRE has identified the following areas of work:1.\tAnalysis and modelling of vulnerabilities of networked process control systems.2.\tDesign and implementation of techniques and architectures for increasing security and resilience of networked controls systems.3.\tVerification, validation and integration of the developed tools.4.\tExploitation, dissemination and standardization. As previously mentioned, a prototype of the INSPIRE security toolbox will be released during the project. It will be used to build a final demonstrator showing specific scenarios and will be validated by both the INSPIRE partners and the members of Group of Experts supporting the proposal.
