Impulso a la cohesión europea desde el plurilingüismo
Date du début: 1 déc. 2014, Date de fin: 30 nov. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In presenting this application under the auspices of the Erasmus+ program, the School of Languages of Santiago de Compostela aims to provide its teaching staff with professional development opportunities to ensure that individuals and departments can contribute fully to the achievement of the school objectives. It is through the various activities proposed that the school intends to create a framework to support and encourage its professionals as they build their skills, attitudes and practices with a view to improving the innovative quality and creativeness of their teaching at an individual level and within the broader context of the European Union. The improvement of the quality and efficiency of our teaching, through the adoption of inclusive and innovative instruction will undoubtedly promote equity, social cohesion and the development of an active European citizenship. Participation in the project is open to all teachers of the EOI de Santiago and associated branches. Candidates from our staff of language teaching specialists will be selected according to the objective and straightforward criteria stipulated in this form, giving priority to individuals who are committed to the long-term benefits of the program, have never participated in a European program, and show the skills and experience needed to carry out the action. A total of 28 candidates will participate in mobility activities abroad (structured courses and other training events) while 24 candidates will take part in job shadowing. The selection process shall be carried out by a committee of 6 individuals from 3 different school bodies, thereby ensuring that it is fair and open. The activities proposed cater to the individual needs of our staff regarding continuing professional development and focus on 4 main areas: 1) language training and cultural awareness (general and specific courses), 2) teaching methodology and 3) assessment and certification of linguistic skills (structured courses, training events and job shadowing), 4) quality management and improvement of the institution. Observation and dissemination of skills and knowledge acquired are crucial. In compliance with Europe 2020 strategic objectives in terms of adult education, our mobility plan will emphasize 7 key areas: 1) Fostering adult life-long learning, 2) Foreign language acquisition, 3) Fostering skills in regional and national languages, 4) Excellence in education, 5) ICT in teaching and learning, 6) Matching skills to labour market needs, 7) Certification of linguistic competence. The learning objectives set for each area will result in significant short and long-term impacts. As language specialists, our participation in mobility programs across Europe will have a direct impact on the competence of adult learners (both national and foreign-born) in foreign languages as well as in regional/national languages. Moreover, training in ICTs will provide a platform from which to promote their use in our teaching practice and thus address the challenges of a rapidly changing society that demands technologically competent individuals. As regards certification of language and competence levels, our staff’s mobility will have a direct impact on classroom instruction and standardization of assessment and certification procedures. To this end, we will employ the tools and materials that our legislation allows, while implementing new standards and validation processes such as the Europass. Finally, another vital aspect of our mobility plan is that it will offer our teaching staff the opportunity to develop their management skills and abilities. In the long-term, this project aims to foster plurilingualism among European citizens, as well as a respect for and awareness of Europe’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
