As is known, the process of functional upgrading of cross-border traffic centres is closely related to the entry of the Republic of Slovenia in the European Union and the new customs provisions. This project falls within this context and envisages the reconversion of the border Traffic Centres of S. Andrea and Vrtojba through the technical and structural connection-integration of the two adjacent Italian-Slovenian facilities, in order to create an advanced logistic platform that will handle international trade flows along Corridor 5. From a technical point of view, the project consists of two parts: the first regarding main works, the second complementary works. The latter include railroad superstructural works, the positioning of posts and frameworks for the illumination of the freight yard, the renovation of the freight yard paving with the laying of a semi-open binder and the adoption of adequate road markings.
