Improving Skills for SMEs’ Development – ISSD 2000

Meeting the management training needs of SMEs : Small businesses form a vital part of national economies, but in order to remain competitive they have to keep the skills of their staff up to date. With the continuing trend towards the globalisation of business, this means that SMEs also need to think internationally and ensure that their management teams are up to the challenge of international trade. But when management training is required, problems can arise. Few small businesses have the time and money available to free their managers to participate in traditional training courses. This project provides help in this field through the development of an innovative methodology and training manual targeting the small business sector. Developed with transnational co-operation, the multi-task training will help CEEC SMEs update their entrepreneurial skills to compete in the business world of the 21st century. This project started in 2000 and lasted 24 months.
