The problem of the Lielupe river basin istypical for all project partners - river pollutionwhere the main source of pollution is poorlytreated waste water which flows into thesurface and ground waters.The project aims at reduction of thenegative impact on the rivers of the Lieluperiver basin by improving the provision ofwater work services in small settlements ofŠiauliai, Joniškis (LT) and Jelgava (LV) districts.A number of technical-economical studiesand technical documentation for building/reconstruction of water work systems in smallsettlements worked out during the projecttogether with the seminars organized formunicipal specialists strengthen the humanresources and serve as a basis for furtherimplementation of the investments intowater works facilities.
