TERMINÉ
Our ERASMUS+ Vocational Education and Training Project 2016 – 2018 is part of an initiative to broaden our perspectives on an international level, which is a major feature of the Lycée Professionnel des Métiers de l’Ameublement (LPMA)’s current School Project. The goal is the linguistic and cultural immersion of vocational school students, through work placements in European firms, in order to improve their future employability. The LPMA is a vocational education and training establishment attached to the Ecole Boulle, which has already been granted the ERASMUS+ Charter for Higher Education. The LPMA offers highly-specialized professional courses which train pupils for diplomas in cabinetmaking and upholstering. It is vital that pupils take advantage of at least one of their compulsory work-placement periods in order to carry out a traineeship abroad. In this way they will be able to acquire complementary skills and knowledge which will facilitate either their immediate entry into the working world, or the continuation of their studies. There would be 6 beneficiaries of the ERASMUS+ programme: 2 upholstery students and 4 cabinetmaking students, chosen after a selection process. The traineeships would be of 4 weeks for the former and 6 weeks for the latter, and would take place in Bray, a small coastal town south of Dublin, Eire. A member of staff would go with the pupils at the beginning of their work-placement periods, in order to ensure their smooth integration into their host families and firms and at the end to assess their traineeships. These work placements would enable the beneficiaries to gain a better understanding of the European business and economic context, and would actively involve them in their role as citizens of Europe. The linguistic and cultural immersion would improve their communication skills in English, not only in everyday life, but also in their professional sphere. This traineeship period would be officially acknowledged thanks to the Mobility Europass, which records skills and knowledge acquired in another European country. All the students of the LPMA and the Ecole Boulle would be able to see and share their trainees’ experiences thanks to a photo and video exhibition to be held in the school library as part of the project Transmission par le Geste (Transmission through the Gesture), thus enhancing the positive image of pupils following vocational training courses, arousing greater awareness of our status as European citizens, and increasing interest in the wider European professional perspective. Our numerous channels of internal and external communication (school website linked to social media networks, Open Days …) would enable us to inform the public about our ERASMUS+ Vocational Education and Training Project on a large scale.
