Date du début: 1 août 2016, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Europe is currently witnessing the largest and most rapid escalation ever in the number of people being forced from their homes. Millions of people are fleeing conflict in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Ukraine, as well as persecution in areas of Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, creating the highest level of displacement since World War II. The so called “European migrant crisis” or “European refugee crisis” began in 2015, when a rising number of refugees and migrants made the journey to the European Union to seek asylum, travelling across the Mediterranean Sea, or through the eastern borders of Europe. Howewer, Europe is facing since years the issues related to refugees and asylum seekers and to the integration of migrants in the European countries' social fabric. One of the consequences that many of the European countries are facing is the exacerbation of internal social conflicts and the radicalization of racism and xenophobia, violence and discrimination with respect to migrants.Europe as a whole entity and each national country should redefine their policies. Dealing with the refugee crisis and migration policies are some of the biggest challenges Europe has to face in the current years and the next decisions European countries will take, will define the future of Europe. The consortium of this project is deeply convinced of the positive relation between education and good information on one side and active citizenship and solidarity on the other. The objective of the proposal is to increase participants knowledge of European-wide context in claiming refugee and migrants’ rights throughout active participation with the final aim to improve local community engagement and intercultural understanding. The objective fits two of the objectives of the Erasmus + Program, aiming -to promote participation in democratic life in Europe, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity - to improve the level of key competences and skills of young people - promote non-formal learning and cooperation in the field of youth with Partner Countries. Moreover it shares the emphasis put for the year 2016 in tackling migrants and refugees/asylum seekers issues, equipping young people with skills and competences, transferring the common fundamental values of our society in order to prevent violent radicalization and to build resilient local and global communities, also improving media literacy skills.Regarding the specific needs of the participants, Italian and Serbia young people are at the moment facing a crucial period of their life in this particular moment of the history of Europe: they will be the next generation which will contribute to the re-definition of Europe identity and of their national countries. We expect this project could contribute to their growth as individuals (improving social values), as citizens (improving active participation in the society), as workers (acquiring new media and linguistic skills and better knowledge about the political and social situation in Europe and abroad). The consortium is composed by ARCS as coordinating organization, Arci Foggia as receiving organization for EVS and IDC Serbia for sending organizations. The project is composed by a 9 months EVS for 2 Serbian volunteers in the Italian city of Foggia and one youth exchange for 10 Serbians and 10 Italians in Belgrade (plus one group leader per group), plus an Advanced Planning Visit, prepatory for the YE.Both EVS and YE participants will be involved in developing activities with migrants and refugees, using non formal education tools and new media (photography, video, twitter, facebook, blogs etc.). We will trying to involve final beneficiaries in all the decision making process. We expect to have the following impact and results:-at local and regional level:- contribute for the integration of migrants in local communities and to fight migrant workers' exploitation in agriculture in the area of Foggia- contribute to the reception and taking care of refugees and asylum seekers in the city of Foggia in order to assure them a suitable and safe stay- contribute to enhance the active participation of young people in the territories, both in Serbia and in FoggAt national, European and international level the project expects to:- contribute to be part of a wide network of activists, associations, volunteers, politicians involved in the debates about migrants' policies- contribute to spread information about the connection of global and local issues- contribute to enhance the awareness on human rights and intercultural dialogue with the final aim to build up a generation of New Europeans for a new Europe, based on the sense of solidarity and social cohesion. This project could part one of the steps of the creation of a network of associations, activists, young people, volunteers, citizens and migrants too, involved and which put effort into the creation of resilient and intercultural communities.
