ICT based Learning and Social Network for People with Disabilities and Volunteers
Date du début: 1 nov. 2011,

The iLEARN project is focused on four target groups, namely (i) people with disabilities, (ii) their parents and caretakers; (iii) volunteers and (iv) policy makers and local authorities, with an aim to bring them together and foster social inclusion, lifelong learning and voluntary work. The project focuses on people with disabilities and their complete inclusion into the society using accessible ICT both as a tool for learning as well as a tool for providing a support social network. It focuses on parents or caretakers by providing them ICT solutions for obtaining information and sharing experience. The project will motivate people for voluntary work with persons with disabilities and providing them with an opportunity to learn about the specifics of disabilities and sharing experience. The project will turn to local authorities and policy makers, it will include countries with different cultures, development of voluntary work and ICT uses, thus proving a fruitful opportunity to learn from one another. The reasons for undertaking the project are the fact that people with disabilities represent a substantial share of the population (one sixth of EU population), which will increase in the future, they are still facing many obstacles, their parents and caretakers are under heavy burden and highly dependent on certain institutions. Experience from other projects and activities also show that volunteers lack knowledge about disabilities and special needs and lack opportunities for learning. Local communities could be the centre of community based projects bringing the target groups together. The outputs of the project will be: detailed study of the user’s needs, learning materials, web portal with WEB 2.0 services and support, promotional materials (printed, video) and various expert and promotional events in 7 languages. Due to the planned exploitation activities, continuation of services and policy implementation the project will have a secure impact for the target groups.
