The reduction of the dropout of Roma students is a phenomenon observed in many countries. For this reason it represents an innovative project for our school, which is going to support teachers in their work. For students it is important to improve their education, as they will see improvement not only in the educational, but also in the social level, to improve living conditions and inter-ethnic relations.The general purpose of the project is to train the teachers about the dropout of students Roma issues, to achieve its reduction through their family. Also, important activities that will be used for the project is the integration of cultural elements of Roma in the educational process and their participation in heterogeneous groups, in order to interact each other.Teachers will learn and implement new practices and methods from the host country in their school. The experiences they are gaining by managers and educators in the field of dropout, will lead to a more flexible, modified teaching method.Eight (8) teachers of our school, with experience over than three years in multicultural - minority schools who have consciously chosen to offer their services there, will participate in these actions. They seek the continuous training on issues related to the vulnerable group of Roma. Since the beginning of the project, they participate actively in planning and implementation of the project.Some activities will take place such as:Professional seminars about the educational system in primary education in Spain and the ways of dealing with the reduction of dropout in minorities.Visits to schools which are facing similar problems and presentation of our own data on the phenomenon. Discussions on how to improve the methods of dealing with it, observing the differences between the two countries and coming to useful conclusions.Evaluation of the program, issuance of certificates of participation and dissemination of the results in various ways.Reducing dropout of Roma pupils will lead to a smooth integration into the society, in which they are growing and they will ask for professional rehabilitation in the future.
