i-learn - A Project to develop an Trans-European on-line creative arts centre to deliver high quality e-learning in crafts areas, e.g. glasswork, embroidery, handicrafts

Aim: The aim of the i-learn project is to set up a Trans-European Online Creative Arts Centre. This will be a secure online learning environment which will allow partner countries and their online tutors and students to deliver training materials within a sound and secure pedagogical course management system. Objectives :- 1: - To develop an online centre for the development of a secure online course management system, to be shared between the partners. 2: - To take existing teaching materials developed through From Head to Toe and deliver them through the online centre3: - Further develop systems devised during the Head to Toe project to support the adaptation of face2face courses into e-learning. 4. – To create additional course materials to broaden the offer. The teaching materials and the Online Course Management System will specifically support Art, Craft and Design Courses. This will mean that delivery systems only need to be developed once to support all partners and potentially others across Europe. It will also mean that online security, which is a growing problem, will also only need one central solution for all partners. Students can access the courses from wherever they live, all they will need to access the courses will be the internet, so specialist courses become accessible and cost effective. The project supports the ‘Widening Participation’ agenda allowing students who live in rural areas or have specific access difficulties to be a student on the course and acquire knowledge, skills and qualifications. It also supports the development of innovative e-learning content. i-learn will also support improvements in quality and innovation in vocational education and training systems, institutions and practices.
