The title of our project is "I got my own back". It was created with the purpose of providing an opportunity for youth with disabilities to have a broader European experience. The organization prioritizes self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-reliance of disabled youth. The participants will go on an active and interactive exchange and set goals of self-development. The Hungarian, Slovakian and Romanian partner organizations were all established to protect and emphasize the social and human values, and to give assistance to witness and recognize them. This gives the main purpose to our project as well. The organizers are knowledgeable, compassionate and socially engaged professionals, who are all accomplished individuals helping young people achieving their goals. Two representatives of the three organizations are responsible for developing the already schematically existing program during the Advanced Planning Visit, testing of the sessions and games for young people with different disabilities and developing a youth exchange progam that will be used in the future. The one week long youth exchange will take place in Szendrőlád, Borsod county, Hungary, with the presence of 18 young people and youth workers, and constructed in accordance with the rules of the APV (which is important for the mentally handicapped). The fourth day will include a half day off, during which the participants can explore the beauty of the surrounding countryside, as well as the city of Miskolctapolca and its popular bath. The goal of the program, above all, is a rich experience of the disabled youth, who presumably will be taking part in a European exchange program for the first time ever. It is also an important milestone in the relationship between the two partner organizations, bringing the possibility of further joint projects. Another expected effect is the potentially gained relationships with other organizations for the disabled. A long term goal of the project is the ability to deliver a message to a broader spectrum through an English speaking youth exchange. The program is designed to invite questions from all participants, whether mentally impaired or have limited mobility, hearing or visual impairments, and to find answers to them. The participants of the project are Hungarian, Slovakian and Romanian youth with different cultural and social backgrounds between the ages of 18 and 30. The Youth Exchange will take place between the 12 and 18 February. The location is the NeverGiveUp Community House in Szendrőlád.
