After analysing our school and teachers’ profile and having in mind our future development and European orientation, areas for improvement were pointed out, the courses offered and the training opportunities were studied and the management and teaching staff discussed and decided to apply for participation in Erasmus+ KA1 for the next 2 years. A group of participating teachers was selected from those originally interested and after they were informed about their obligations before, during and after the activities, the deadlines, the schedule, the cooperation agreement, the preparatory training, the cost, etc., a coordinator was designated who sent everyone email addresses for training courses database search and several meetings took place. The participants attended informative events about Erasmus+ by the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Crete, Office of European projects of secondary education in the region of Crete and by schools that have implemented relevant actions.The objectives of our plan include the improvement of the school and its teaching staff as far as the development of quality and internationalization are concerned. More specifically, the enhancement of its European dimension and reputation at a local, regional, national and European level, its participation in European training courses and the opportunities they offer, the update of teachers about innovative and modern teaching methods and educational tools , the enrichment of curricula, the development of management skills, the improvement of language and digital skills, the familiarising with educational systems of other countries and the increase of European awareness through contact with the culture of other countries and cooperation with institutions or/and colleagues of other countries.The group of participants consists of Secondary Education teachers of the following subjects: Greek Language and Literature, Science, Social Sciences, Foreign Languages, Music, Art and Physical Education with extensive experience in public and private education, with continuous training on their subject, good to excellent language skills and use of new technologies and participation in European programs. They stand out for their constant willingness for training, updating on new teaching methods and improvement of their talents and skills for better and more interesting teaching while they consider that the future school development will be achieved mainly by giving it a European dimension. The planned activities consist of attending training courses in foreign countries, namely:1. Europe entre Mythologie, Modernité et Multiculturalisme, Paris2. Teacher training course for non-standard learning of English in London3. Experimental Barcelona: Experiential travel for creative education, tourism and for wellbeingA cooperation agreement has been conducted, a preparatory training of the participants has taken place as far as foreign languages, use of computers and culture and civilization of the host countries are concerned, a work schedule has been created to be followed, a coordinator and a monitoring responsible person have been appointed for the monitoring of the participation in the activities and progress of the participants.The expected results of the project is to widen the European dimension of the school, to gain experience in European programs, to be updated on new teaching methods, tools and other educational systems, to improve the language and digital skills, and to gain intercultural experience.The expected impact of the project concerns the school and its teachers who will have achieved their goals, the teachers in a local, regional, national and European level through the dissemination and sustainability of results and the building of bridges of communication and cooperation. Students will enhance their European consciousness, will be informed about the culture and educational systems of other European countries, about study opportunities and/or future work in them, they will realise the need to learn foreign languages and the use of new technologies, they will have motivation for their participation in European programs. Parents and guardians and the general public will be informed about our school activities and the learning opportunities and experiences it offers at European level.Possible long-term benefits are the enrichment and/or changes in the curricula, the participation of our school as an organisation, coordinator and/or organiser of international programs supporting and promoting lifelong and active learning through mobility of teaching staff and students.
