Hydrogen Home

The goal of the Hydrogen Home project was for the students to become aware of the topic of renewable energy, which can be substituted for the traditional sources that impact our environment.. The instrument used to accomplish this goal has been initially the realization of a scale model of a energetically self-sufficient farm . The nature of the techniques used is physical (wind rotors, marine rotor, photovoltaic generator), chemical type (electrolytic cells to produce hydrogen and fuel cells), biological (biohydrogen production through bacterial activity of biomass of agricultural origin). The plants, built entirely by the students, to ensure their functionality, have too large dimensions for the model of the farm. The model was built as a scheme that would provide an overview of the methods producing energy. The model has been constructed, assembled, painted and decorated by the students. All of these phases of work were photographed and filmed to create a detailed documentary which is became an efficient instrument in explaining the sources of alternative energy, a theme which is of very important value for the betterment of society. The best motivation for the project was the education of the students to become aware and informed citizens, able to make responsible choices in the energy sector. Another key aspect was the education to energy savings and the use of renewable sources to avoid collateral environmental impact as the greenhouse effect. An immersive experience as a collaborative project between several nations, certainly have been an impact on the lifestyle of the students and their families too about a correct use of energy.
