Humanity and Nature by the Baltic and Adriatic Seas

The students participating in “Humanity and Nature by the Baltic and the Adriatic Seas” studied and compared the National parks, nature reserves and conservancy in Lithuania and Italy. The project evolved on two planes. THE SCIENTIFC plane focuses on the acquisition of information on the concept of ecosystem and protected area, their characteristic flora, fauna and soil. Activities included: Cognitive – study activities, research, elaborations of diagrams, grids and file cards-typical medicinal plants. Pragmatic – outdoor experiences: trekking, orienteering, collection of specimens which allowed for the exploration of the landscape and a direct knowledge of it.THE HUMANISTIC plane took into consideration what contact with nature implies, a first - hand experience in an eco-structure with all its physical, social, cultural, historical and biological elements.Activities included: Emotive – an immersion in an uncontaminated natural environment gave rise to sensations, feelings, thoughts which inspired the production of nature diaries, poems, sketches, paintings, photos, etc. Some students wrote the poems while staying on the shore of the Adriatic sea.Cultural – studies on writers and artists from various periods and countries who noted the importance of closeness to nature for the total well-being of man.The students explored the Neringos National park, visited the famous dunes, took photos. Visiting the Ventes Cape the students had the opportunity to put the rings on the birds and let them fly straight from their hands. They had the opportunity to visit the Ciurlionis National Museum in Druskininkai, got acquainted with the poet, artist and composer M.K.Ciurlionis who created his world famous works of art inspired by nature. Staying in Italy Lithuanian students explored the famous “Parco del Conero” in the Marche Region. They made photos, studied the vanishing plants.
