Date du début: 1 août 2016, Date de fin: 31 janv. 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project "How to read the urban and media spaces: understand the information and produce it consciously" is a cooperation between the Autodidaktische Initiative e.V. (ADI) from Leipzig (Germany) with the Alternative V from Kiev (Ukraine). In the framework of the project two volunteers from Kiev will organize a series of events in the format of workshops, tailored to needs of young people from Leipzig. The aim of the events is to strengthen the skills of the participants concerning analysis and evaluation of media messages and messages from the public urban space. In the first phase, the volunteers will get knowledge and understanding of the local contexts and the needs of young people in the district and will draw up a course program based on those. The second phase consists in making contacts and getting to know the target audience. At the end of this phase the topic "Dealing with media" will be introduced in an interactive way.As the main part of the project, two series of workshops on the topics "Understand and use urban spaces" and "Understand and use media spaces" will be carried out. The workshops are aimed at improving understanding of visual symbols, signs and messages from various media as well as from the urban area (symbols, graffiti, stickers, behaviors). The focus is made here on recognizing discriminatory and xenophobic messages and developing strategies for dealing with them. The completion of the project is presented as an extensive evaluation which is carried out on the basis of the experiences and opinions of the workshop participants, as well as the learning outcomes for the volunteers and the success of the collaboration between the project participants in general.Through the project, the need for critical processing of media information and everyday messages is brought to a public debate. The events and offers should inspire other participants to continue with the topic. It thus contributes in the long term to increasing participation of young people in Europe in the democratic life and active citizenship.
