The Federal Ministry of Education and Women of Austria chose me, Mag. Eva Kasper, Spanish and French teacher at the Adalbert Stifter Gymnasium Linz, to participate in the program „Internship as a guest teacher in Spain“. This projects allows teachers of foreign languages to get to know the Spanish school system and to polish up their language skills. At the same time, it enables participants to pass on some knowledge about Austrian language and culture. In April 2016 I spent two weeks in Cartagena (Murcia) in the Colegio San Juan Bosco to observe school lessons and to teach. My partner institution offers French lessons and bilingual lessons in English and Spanish. As there are no German classes at this school, desafortunately I didn't have the opportunity to teach and observe German lessons, but English and French. In addition, I participated in various extracurricular activities like for example a theatre performance of the parents, a radio interview within the context of a literary award, an interactive reading in an old people's home, etc. In exchange with my Spanish colleagues I got an insight into the Spanish school system and new methods of teaching. I expanded my language skills and networked. Our common project for the near future is a student's exchange between our two schools.
