As part of the Erasmus + Programme agreement No. 2014-1-PL01-KA103-000193, the Medical University of Bialystok provided student mobility for studies, student mobility for placements and staff mobility for training in Programme Countries in the academic year 2015/2016. The aim of the project was to increase the mobility of students and University staff, to continue and deepen cooperation with partner universities and other foreign institutions, acquire new partners for cooperation and to promote Erasmus+ Programme within and outside the University. The goals of the project have been fully achieved. Within the framework of the project in the 2015/2016 academic year, the total of 45 participants went abroad, which included 8 students who went to study abroad, 18 students who completed their traineeship period and 19 University teachers who completed training programmes. As a part of the interinstitutional agreement, the Medical University of Bialystok accepted 7 students to study and 4 students to complete their traineeship. The Medical University signed new interinstitutional agreements with universities in Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Romania to incorporate new courses , such as laboratory medicine and cosmetology, which had not been covered by previous agreements. The university has acquired new practice placements for students in attractive foreign centers, such as hospitals and laboratories in Padua and Triest in Italy, Barcelona (Spain), Halifax (the United Kingdom), Berlin, Dortmund and Regensburg (Germany), Rotterdam (Holland) and Vienna (Austria). In this year's project we recruited participants from all faculties of the University: the Medical Faculty, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Health Sciences. Medical, nursing and dietetics students went to study abroad and students of medicine, laboratory medicine and dietetics completed their traineeship. The participants were recruited among the students of the first, second and third cycle of studies as well as long-cycle studies. Graduates, who submitted application documents during their last year of studies and completed their traineeship within 12 months following the graduation, were also among the participants of the project. As part of the project, the Medical University of Bialystok accepted some students from foreign universities to study medicine and dentistry and to complete their traineeship in medicine and nursing. Following the previous years, a clear tendency to be noted in the academic year 2015/2016 is a renewed participation of students who had previously benefited from mobility under this Programme and had not used the maximum period of mobility per each cycle of study. Among the participants benefiting from the exchange in the Erasmus Programme were also university employees who had participated in training activities in previous years. A positive trend in the project was represented by the participation of 6 less-experienced University employees, who, through the mobility provided by Erasmus+ Programme, could acquire some more experience. University employees took their training in large and resilient host institutions, related to the scope of their duties at the University. Training centers were located, among others, in London, Rome, Naples, Berlin, Dublin and Madrid. In justified cases, having the consent of the University Committee for the Erasmus+ Programme, three participants profited from mobility more than once during the academic year to acquire the required competencies for the home university. The university has taken a number of actions to ensure that Erasmus+ Programme is provided with proper administrative and legal framework. Among other things, the University Committee for the Erasmus+ Programme approved "the university principles for funding the mobilities for the academic year 2015/2016" and adapted the application documents for students and staff to the current guidelines of the National Agency for Erasmus + Programme. In total, in the academic year 2015/2016, the Medical University of Bialystok signed 23 interinstitutional agreements with universities from 14 Programme Countries. These agreements included all four categories of mobility and covered all three faculties of the University. The University has made great efforts to promote mobility within the programme by organising information meetings for students, distributing promotional materials, providing information about the project and its results through the student organisations, year representatives, the Office for the Erasmus + Programme and the Faculty Coordinators. Long-term benefits of the project include the growing interest of both, students as well as staff, in the mobility within the Programme as well as valuable experience gained by the participants that will be used in their future careers. A beneficial result of those training mobilities was to establish a cooperation with universities in Belgium and Ireland.
