TERMINÉ
Teaching more than 96 languages and cultures, hosting students and teachers of over 120 different nationalities, conducting research projects in over one hundred countries, the Inalco has for more than two centuries intended to constitute a bridge between languages and cultures.
Its International office main task is to develop cooperation with foreign universities, which requires both the maintenance and enhancement of a network of contacts and the institutionalisation of its links with its partners.
International exchanges are meant to provide students with an immersion experience, as well as complementary knowledge to their studies through integrated study abroad programs or field research trips within the framework of partnerships that now cover all geographical areas concerned by languages taught at the Inalco.
They are meant to support an educational and scientific cooperation which goal is to provide for the activity of Professors and Researchers as well.
Through the Erasmus program, the Inalco has expanded its student and teacher exchanges with major European centers traditionally described as "Orientalists" (African and Asian Studies), especially with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics, and Turkey, which languages and cultures are also taught at the Inalco. Thanks to European programs such as Erasmus Mundus, as well as the support of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), the Inalco has also been able to strengthen its ties with Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Korea, countries Arab, China and Japan.
However, exchanges in Europe are an important part of Inalco students and teachers mobility. Overall, incoming and outgoing mobility are increasing every year, which demonstrates the success and interest of the Erasmus + program at the Inalco. These mobility are also beneficial for sections such as Turkey or Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Asian and African studies departments, which are the major sending and hosting divisions through the Erasmus + program.
Professors mobility whether incoming or outgoing contribute substantially to these results and to exchanges resulting from it, especially for the Central and Eastern Europe section as well as African or Arab and Hebrew Studies departments. These exchanges, apart from the courses given, fostered contacts and allowed to consider the implementation of "double degrees" or other joint degrees.
These exchanges with areas whose languages are taught at the Inalco, might be expanded as part of key action 1, aspect n°2: International Credit Mobility which should complement the various programs offered in the Inalco.
