Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin was established in 1948 in Szczecin, the capital of West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland. Implementation and development of the Erasmus+ Programme is one of the important goals of university policy strategy and an essential tool for its internationalization. Steps aiming at the gradual increase of student and staff mobility, further development of international cooperation with programme countries and cross-border cooperation with German universities as well as expanding the educational offer in English language in scope of study programmes at which the curriculum in English for foreign students has not been implemented yet, are being taken. One of the goals of our project was to develop the international cooperation of our university by establishing new relations with other universities, as well as to expand the earlier initiated cooperation by increasing the range of exchange in relation to the previously signed contracts. During the implementation of the project 4 new contracts were signed: 2 contracts at the Faculty of Medicine: Universita di Foggia (Italy), Universidad San Antonio de Murcia (Spain); 1 at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry: Ernst-Moritz-Universität Greifswald (Germany); 1 at the Faculty of Health Sciences: University of Malaga (Spain) – in scope of nursing. These contracts meet the requirements of high comparability of the curricula, which provides outgoing and incoming students with reduction of curricular differences while accomplishing part of their studies abroad. There were arranged preparatory meetings for representatives of our university and partner universities at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Malaga in order to expand cooperation in field of nursing. Efforts for two-way exchange of teaching staff and establishing the rules for student mobility for studies of both universities were made. Employees from the University of Murcia were invited in order to give classes. In the academic year 2015/16 there were organised 19 student mobilities for studies, 13 student mobility for traineeships and 5 staff mobilities. Thanks to the undertaken promotional activities the number of student mobilities for studies and staff mobilities has increased, compared to the previous year. The number of foreign students from our English programme interested in mobility for studies has increased. As part of cross-border cooperation, 4 Polish programme students and 5 English programme students from the Faculty of Medicine have went to study at universities in Germany. Achievements and experience gained during traineeships contributed to the expansion of practical skills of our students, whereas the realization of the part of studies at partner universities gave students the opportunity to gain new experience in working with patients. Participants of the mobility became more willing to take up new challenges and able to see the value of other cultures diversity and also deepened their language skills. Our university hosted 19 students from partner universities, including 12 students who came to study and 7 who carried out traineeships. Participation in the Programme had a positive influence on the improvement of teaching staff members’ skills in the development of new teaching methods and on the improvement of cultural competence. Thanks to it, they gained specialist and practical skills that are important in their scientific work and teaching, they learned about good practices used abroad and they established new contacts. Staff mobility for training was carried out by 3 people more than in previous year. Their participation in International Staff Weeks contributed to the expansion of knowledge and skills, and understanding the specificity of functioning of various academic units at other universities. It enabled to establish many new contacts with the international academic community. Each type of mobility has a great influence on the development of our university and the increase of the attractiveness of its educational offer as well as on the improvement of skills of students and staff in the area of health sciences and international cooperation management and administration, which is a part of the quality policy of the Erasmus+ Programme integrally connected with the policy strategy of our university. Promotion of Erasmus+ contributed to the attractiveness of our university and increasing interest among the candidates for studies. For the university participation in the programme had a big impact on the improvement of curricula and the development of new teaching methods. An inventive curriculum in English was prepared for dietetics study programme, in connection with the arrival of the first students from Portugal. This project had a positive impact on social and cultural competence not only among the participants of mobility, but also among other people involved in the organization and administration of the Programme.
