Higher education student and staff mobility projec..
Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2015,
Date de fin: 30 sept. 2016
PROJET
TERMINÉ
Opening up to Europe is part of our school project which has been involved in European projects for many years .
Conscious of the impact of mobility on youth employment, all the more since we live in a cut off area where youth unemployment is high, we want to open our Higher education classes to the International. Therefore the school applied for and received the Erasmus Charter in 2015.
The objectives of the students' mobility are three fold.First of all ,it aims to develop their language skills ,reinforce their professional and personal skills( adaptability – independence) and promote their integration into the world of work in France or abroad.
Staff mobility aims to improve the quality of their teaching by learning from European colleagues but also to establish long-term links which could lead to a partnership .
All our students engaged in higher education can apply for a mobility. Our school counts seven classes from HND classes in electrotechnics, business management( MUC) and marketing, design, one vocational Licence ,a Higher diploma in glass and crystal( DMA),, and a Higher Diploma in Applied Art (DSAA).
Thanks to this project ,seven students have been on work placements ,two students preparing for anHND in MUC ,one DMA student and four DSAA students.
These students have been on work placements in companies they had found and which have been approved by their teachers and the Heads of departments. The activities in the companies were in keeping with the requirements of the diploma they prepared.
The mobility has had a positive impact as shown by the increasing number of students who apply for it: two during the first year, seven in April 2016 and many more want to do a mobility in 2017 .Students are more and more conscious of the impact of a mobility on their employability and of the necessity to speak English .
It is too early to measure the impact of mobility on the students'emplyability ,yet, a student who was on a two-month work placement in Romania was offered a 9 month contract by the company where he was doing his internship.
Another positive impact is due to the different way of working. Some students have been given tasks they would never be given in France, for example students on work placements in the United Kingdom.
Staff mobility has enabled them to improve their language skills and observe other teaching methods and question their own teaching methods.. The teachers created relationships with the universities where they did their mobilty ,a partnership with Glasgow school of Art is on the horizon.
The long-term objective is to form long lasting bonds with the universities( Glasgow school of Art) as well as with companies:for the second time this year a British company has accepted a BTS MUC student on work placement.
