Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Ecole centrale de Lyon (ECL) directs a broad scope international policy based on three actions: stimulating the international mobility of its students, hosting a large number of foreign students on its campus and developing international research projects. Now, it is compulsory for French engineering students do a 3-month minimum stay abroad in a university or in a company to be granted the Diplôme d’Ingénieur of Ecole centrale de Lyon. In September 2012, ECL launched a degree in Energy Engineering open to apprenticeship and continuous professional training. To get the trainees ready to work in a global environment, foreign language training and a minimum 2-month stay abroad are part of the curriculum. There are more than 75 active partner universities. The Double-Degree set by the criteria of the TIME network stands for the program of excellence for international exchanges. Today other ways of incoming and outgoing nobilities are also offered such as internships in laboratories or in companies and as year or semester exchange programs. They help strengthening the generalist engineering training, the research collaborations and the partner companies. A policy of internal and external promotion has been launched so that the bicultural trainings meet their respective requirements and so that the foreign students are followed through. Without the Erasmus+ program, Ecole centrale could not accomplish its goals of compulsory mobility. For more than 45 years, Europe has definitely been one of the favourite destinations. Every year, 50% of the outgoing students going for a SMS mobility benefit from the Erasmus+ program, then the students in SMP mobility can be added to that number. In 2015-2016, out of 125 students on an academic mobility, 68 of them did it thanks to Erasmus+ and 44 students did a SMP mobility with an Erasmus grant. As far as SMS is concerned, even though we aim at a higher proportion of outgoing motilities in our European partner universities outside the UK, our students have always been attracted to Masters Degrees in England partly because the language is very attractive. We need to insist on the fact that the Diplôme d’Ingénieur requires a very good level in English. We have worhed on starting new Eramsus+ agreements with the Imperial College London, the University of Southampton and the University of Surrey. Concerning the incoming mobility, thanks to the Erasmus+ program we have significantly strengthened our exchanges with Italia and Spain. The feedbacks are really positive since several of our incoming students have been hired right after their studies either in France or in their home country. Similarly a lot of our French students starttheir careers in Europe. One of the essential points of the program is the professional and friendly networtk generated by the participants which carries on long after the exchange period. On our side, we keep in touch with our incoming and outgoing students through the different networks such as ECL alumni, TIME alumni, country networks etc. We rely on them to share the feedbacks and induce the next generations to follow their paths.
