The Lorraine Universities had a long tradition of ERASMUS mobility in Europe. Since their merger in January 2012, Université de Lorraine has continued the global efforts in this area. To consolidate its international integration, the University has an active police to promote international incoming and outgoing mobility.
Université de Lorraine also intends to build up ties with a network of European Universities which share its major priorities : interdisciplinarity and dialogue of knowledge, with a structuring orientation around enginnering taken in a broad definition. Université de Lorraine also has a strong involvement in Franco-German cooperation and cross-border relationships. It is a major player in the construction of the University of the Greater Region (UniGR) where it is associated with the Universities of Saarland, Trier, Kaiserslautern, Luxembourg and Liège, in particular in the frame of a mobility fund.
The International Office of Université de Lorraine is dedicated in its daily work to the promotion of international incoming and outgoing student and staff mobility. In particular, a team of the International Office is specifically devoted to the management of international mobility. This team has not enlarged to 9 persons instead of 7 in order to include the new dimensions of student and staff international mobility but also to improve the internal financial control of our activity.
Université de Lorraine provides financial incentives to international student mobility by allocating each year about 1 500 financial aids to its students (ERASMUS+, international mobility grants based on social grounds from the French Ministry of Education for an annual budget of 1 175 600 €, international mobility grants financed by the University's budget for an annual budget of 200 00 € which should rise in 2017).
