The Erasmus Mobility of individuals from universities was designed and implemented in accordance with the Institutional Contract signed between the University (USAMV Iasi) and the National Agency for the Erasmus + Romania (ANPCDEFP), considering the University’s strategy for internationalization that aims at achieving a modern and efficient higher education system, laying the cornerstone of a better society through learning, as stated in the Charter of the University, the Erasmus Charter and European Policy Statement.
Pursuant to this background, the following objectives have been established: increasing the number of partner institutions; increasing the number of outbound students from all training cycles; increasing the number of inbound students; teaching and non-teaching staff mobility; clearly-stated and objective criteria of selection; better visibility of the Erasmus Bureau activity towards an increasingly effective communication; providing more favourable conditions for framing inbound students within the academic and socio-cultural environment of the university.
Meeting the targets mentioned hereinabove was made possible through an appropriate management with included the following activities: liaising with partner universities and building new bilateral agreements; outbound selection of participants (students and staff); providing assistance support for preparing the Erasmus mobility documentation; monitoring the internship and accounting reports; preparing the accommodating framework for inbound participants; monitoring and supporting them to meet the learning and examination goals, including issuing study certificates; OLS-mediated language training for outbound students and Romanian language courses offered to inbound students organized by the university; constant updating of information from the Mobility Tool, etc.
According to the annual contract a number of 91 mobilities were planned (25 SMS, 21 SMP, 35 STA and 10 STT), but the achievements were of 99 mobilities (15 SMS, 39 SMP, 35 STA and 10 STT), with other words a percent of 108,79 %. At the SM activities, study and practice periods were prolonged with 822 days that means about 27,4 months for 16 students (3 at SMS and 13 at SMP).
The increasing of SM mobilities number and prolonged stage periods were possible by transfering of amount of 24465 Euros from SMS to SMP, as well as by a higher efforts of the project responsible persons.
The allocated financial funds were absorbed in 98,95 %, respectively 182779 Euros.
The total number of the inbound students was of 25 (23 SMS and 2 SMP).
Assessments performed by the participants in the Erasmus mobility programmes have been quite favourable, both those coming from outbound students, and university staff. This encourages us to improve management strategy pursuing the same line of action. Weaknesses arise from a not so efficient communication between students and teaching staff and, not least, the people involved in the management and monitoring of mobility.
In general, over 70% of outbound students’ responses show that they have learned to better cooperate in teams, develop an idea and put it into practice, show their creativity to find solutions under difficult circumstances, optimize time management, to plan and organize their own activities, evaluate different cultures, think logically and draw conclusions, use IT technology, etc.
Our students have developed, in a percentage around 80%, new skills of adaptation, cooperation, decision making, critical thinking; they have learnt to have confidence, to be tolerant, open to new challenges, to feel more European, and to properly assess their own strengths and weaknesses.
The academic and administrative staff reviewed very favourably the impact of project activities on improving their professional and socio-cultural profile.
The impact on the participants will have positive effects on the professional training and career of each individual, on the workplace and the home institution, in terms of change of mentality, strengthening self-confidence, development of creative and resourceful thinking, building cooperation and teamwork frameworks, objective self-assessment, etc.
The long term benefits will occur in shaping professional careers, in the change of academic management etc.
