Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2015,
Date de fin: 30 sept. 2016
During the Call 2015 five of our students took part in the Erasmus+ programme and all chose the Traineeship mobility. Two of them cancelled the mobility and turned it into the stage experience that our students must carry out within their study plan. The Traineeship mobility’s goal is to allow students to get in touch with the labour market . This means that students can acquire new professional skills, grow up from the personal point of view, be more autonomous and measure with a social and working environment different from the national one. Obviously, in a curriculum in which language knowledge is fundamental, living a period abroad independently represents an added value of undoubted importance.
Thanks to the cooperation with museums, hotels, language schools, shops, local bodies and different facilities, mobile students develop excellent language skills that allow them to tackle every situation that life presents in that place.
For the future linguistic mediator living abroad for at least two months is an absolutely essential requisite, independently from the context in which they work after they have obtained the degree. Living in a foreign country, students have the valuable opportunity to study, deepen and exercise their language of study, but also to know the culture of that Country.
During the Call 2015 all of the five participants were second-year students. Two students spent their period of mobility at the York Museum Trust in York (United Kingdom), where they demostrated and interpreted a range of historical collections to an internatyional audience at two major museums. The third student spent her mobility at the Fundació Privada de les Arts i els Artistes (MEAM), the museum of modern arts in Barcellona (Spain), where she was involved in translation of cultural activities, general information of the museum, assistance in exhibitions mounting, assistance in cultural activities, public admission, organizing logistics for cultural activities etc. The two students who cancelled thei mobility worked at the Goldenes Fass Hotel in Meissen (Deutschland), where they carried out all specific activities of a hotel such as check-in, reception, but also those related to the linguistic mediator job (document translations, marketing, conference services, etc.).
