Over the last 20 years Centrale Nantes has been able to develop an active understanding of the global systemic relations. Centrale Nantes has also been able to take its place within the academic Europe and to make itself widely visible and to contribute to the promotion of the excellence of the European Higher Education Institutions over the world.
The wide combination of the Double Degree programs (70+), of the opening of Masters in English curriculae (12) and of the active involvement of Centrale Nantes into the Erasmus Mundus Programs (19 over the 2009-2014 period), has raised an immediate support and an awareness that has facilitated the convergence and the energization of the internationalization of the institution.
This is how Centrale Nantes entered the virtuous circle of the optimization of its organization and of the whole set of its activities.
The main objective of Centrale Nantes’ contribution to the Program is the recognition and the valuation of the excellence of its training and its research at the international level. Thanks to the support that the Program has brought to the partnerships and to the international student and staff mobility, Centrale Nantes is now optimizing its tools and organization, improving the quality and the international relevance of its trainings, and raising itself from now on at the level of the best Higher Education Institutions.
For Centrale Nantes, the Program stands as an accelerator of progress, of academic innovation and of attractiveness. It is indeed thanks to the permeability and the confrontation with other academic cultures that institutions manage to optimize their functioning, their governance, their teachings and their research. In this way, for the students and the staff, the international mobility develops capacities of adaptation and opening, and constitutes an asset for their employability and their careers.
In this spirit the Centrale Nantes contributes in the modernization, in the internationalization and in the brilliance of the European higher education. Centrale Nantes pursues its missions and plays its role in the society. All the engineering students (classes of approximately 360) benefit from an academic international mobility (110/360) or from an internship (250/360) for a minimal duration of a half-year, in Europe or elsewhere.

Every year Centrale Nantes welcomes mobility flows from its institutional partners (115), a part of which enjoying Erasmus scholarships for Double Degree programs (2 years), academic exchanges (1 or 2 half-years, 30 or 60 ECTS), internships (13 or 15 ECTS) in companies or in laboratories, or for short staff mobility.
To ensure the quality and the impact of these international mobility flows, the Direction of the International Relations of Centrale Nantes has set up a strong process of student and staff support.
To ensure a qualitative follow-up of the international mobility flows, Centrale Nantes has set up a system of support of the students, in 3 stages:
- Before mobility: a team of educational tutors for choice and advice on the destinations; the institutional international week; sharing of experience meetings; information meetings.
- During mobility: questionnaires of semimonthly follow-up and analysis.
- After mobility: alumni follow-up and implementation of index card testimonies.
