Bilkent University was founded in 1984 as Turkey?s first private, non-profit, foundation university with the mission of serving as a center of excellence in higher education for quality teaching and intensive research. In about 30 years, it quickly became recognized as the country?s premier institution of higher education. The Erasmus+ Key Action 103-Learning Mobility for Individuals, Higher Education Student and Staff Mobility Project , is an important part of Bilkent?s strategic objective of intensifying the international nature of the university. Within the context of this project in 2014-2015 Academic year the university sent 282 students for mobility, 23 for placement and 4 academic personnel for teaching activities and hosted 155 students for 190 semesters in total. Bilkent University?s close relationships with the leading universities in Europe has helped its graduates to find respected positions in major research programs and the cooperation with European partners has contributed Bilkent University?s vision of internationalization.
