Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

IES Leonardo da Vinci is a Higher Vocational School. One of our objectives with the Erasmus exchange program is to provide our student participants with practical training in the context of a real company to complement the practical training they receive at our school. At the same time, a work placement abroad allows them to develop as European citizens able to share their experiences with other people and other cultures. The use of a foreign language throughout their stay will ensure that they can participate in the society of the receiving country and it will be a valued aspect of their training when they access the job market improving their employability. Another important objective is related to the opportunity for our staff to participate in exchanges. The participants in these staff exchanges can learn different work methods through contact with European colleagues. Sharing experiences in an international context will certainly be beneficial to the school community as a whole. This year, six students in Higher Vocational degree programs participated in the program, receiving on the job training in European companies. Three of the students were studying to become Preschool educators, one was studying our Environmental Health program, one was in Finance and Administration and one in Fashion and Design. The receiving countries were Germany, The United Kingdom, Estonia and Slovenia. The training period lasted approximately three months and it allowed the students their first international experience, in which they were able to experience other countries, cultures and languages. On the other hand, these exchanges were also their first contact with a real work environment, and the first time they had to manage independently, outside their comfort zone. The staff mobilities for training were also a valuable experience for the participants. The possibilities to experience new methods of teaching and training abroad, getting to know the way companies operate in other countries and the time spent strengthening relationships with European colleagues were all important aspects of these experiences. The three participant teachers are ICT teachers who participated in a five-day training stay in Slovenia.
