The internationalization of École Polytechnique, an important institution of higher scientific education, is a key to its development. École Polytechnique’s Erasmus+ project 2014-2016 was focused, as in previous years, on the outgoing student mobility, in particular of Ingénieur Polytechnicien students of the 3rd and 4th years, and on the incoming student mobility coming from partner universities in order to integrate the same Ingénieur Polytechnicien curriculum. The number of applications for academic stays increases thanks to the active orientation policy conducted by the institution. All students comprehend that scientific excellence and innovation involve interactions between researchers at international level, but École Polytechnique particularly insists on the importance of student mobility in Europe seeing it as a vector for knowledge exchange and individual enrichment. The number of funded outgoing mobilities increased by 60 % compared to the previous year (27 mobilities compared to 17, half of which had educational or internship purposes). Moreover, École Polytechnique, a public institution, wishes to contribute to the improvement of the national research potential and to welcome foreign students that could create a pool of resources or become prescribers for their laboratories and internship programs, in the best conditions. École Polytechnique highlights towards its partners the quality and diversity of its academic programs and reception infrastructure (housing, French courses, sports activities etc.). École Polytechnique wishes to continue its contribution to the development of the European education and research through the Erasmus+ program. This program is a suitable tool for École Polytechnique’s goals: it helps develop strong partnerships in Europe with recognition of diplomas, and encourages short time mobility that fosters participants’ returning to the countries and knowledge sharing.
