Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 25 août 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Nursing School of Coimbra considers internationalisation to be a strategic area for its development. The mobility of students and teachers, in addition to providing them with other ways of seeing the world and building and using their knowledge, is also essential to provide visibility to the institution in Europe and abroad. Thus, every year, we develop activities aimed at increasing the mobility of students and teachers, enhancing the contacts with partner HEIs, improving institutional relationships and promoting other collaborative projects. Students are the most significant group involved in mobility programmes: 83 students in the year under analysis. Most of these students do their 3rd-year and 4-year internships abroad. Taking into account the method of selection by academic merit, we have managed to send the best students abroad, those who are able to project our institution in terms of quality. To manage the internationalization area, the School has a National and International Relations Office which is responsible for all the logistics involved in these programmes. This office is composed of 7 teachers, a coordinator and two administrative technicians. This office is under the authority of the President of the School. This group of people is responsible for the maintenance of the webpages concerning internationalization in the School’s website. In addition, this Office develops a set of activities with a view to disseminating the mobility programmes and encouraging the educational community to go on mobility. Thus, we organize activities for the dissemination of the project during the students’ welcome week, an International Week with a general theme (this year “Internationalization, Mobility and Citizenship”) and presentation of mobility experiences. This year we also organized a cultural showcase with the help of the international students who were on mobility in our School. We believe that this vision of increasing and enhancing international mobility and cooperation has a long-term positive impact on employability. Europe is an open space and an experience in one of the countries participating in the program will increase the students’ skills, competences and ability to seek opportunities. This project has been very beneficial for our School, for example through Key Action 2, and we have already proposed the development of 2nd level programmes in partnership with other HEIs. Another important aspect is the development of language skills.
