Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The aim of this project is to support Lancaster students studying or working abroad which is a key element of Lancaster University?s Strategic Plan and part of its internationalisation strategy. Lancaster University?s application for the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education referred to its then Strategic Plan (2009-2015) which aimed to: 'broaden the horizons of our students; - by achieving a step change in the number of students taking up opportunities to study abroad and by providing a stimulating mix of students from all backgrounds and all parts so the world'. ?produce graduates whose skills and knowledge are sought after in the national and international job markets - by working increasingly closely with employers and alumni to inform our activities and by providing opportunities for students to engage in placements, work experience and volunteering? ?enhance the international intellectual environment of Lancaster: - by seeking to increase our numbers of international students and developing more opportunities and support for our students to study overseas? The current Strategic Plan (to 2020) continues the previous Plan?s priority ?to be seen as a world player in terms of the research we do, the students we teach and the global problems to which we contribute ideas and solutions? and one of its strategic goals in the current Plan is to be seen as a global university. One strand of the Strategic Plan is to develop a ?global curriculum and internationalised learning environment? and the Strategic Implementation Plan refers to increasing the number of students having an international experience. Targets have been set to increase the numbers of students undertaking a mobility placement and new partners are being established to support this activity both within and outside the EU. 55 training placements and 93 study placements were undertaken in 2014/15 by Lancaster students, of whom 4 were postgraduate students, in 12 countries. 114 students from Erasmus+ partners studied at Lancaster University. An increase in the number of students taking part in an Erasmus mobility placement was not achieved in 2014/15, but there was a 23% increase in the numbers studying abroad outside the EU, resulting in an overall increase in Lancaster University students studying or working overseas. Lancaster University also aims to attract the best staff from the UK and internationally and as a teaching and research university, they are expected to develop flexible and innovative modes of teaching which is supported by sharing best practice and visiting partners in their national and international networks. 9 staff in 7 departments taught at a partner university in 6 different countries in the EU and this activity contributes directly to the University?s Strategic Plan. The relationships which staff develop as part of their Erasmus+ mobility leads to wider and deeper collaboration such as demonstrated where one mobility resulted in an application to Horizon 2020 and another leading to a presentation at a conference in Spain and the publication of a paper.
