Two teachers of the English Department travelled to Portsmouth in April 2015 to attend this Erasmus training program for teachers. The main task was to observed different enterprises as Royal Beach Hotel, Delaney’s, Land Securities PLC, Holiday Inn Hotel and Brasserie Blanc. By this "Job Shadowing “ we learned how the British Tourist sector works on daily basis and the importance of English as a key tool to get better job opportunities. The results of this Erasmus Mobility program were promoted positively throughout the CIFP San Cristobal educational community with meetings and information online. Regarding the results and the effect of this proyect, we must point that: The 16% of the students formed in technological degrees have had the oportunity of being as staff of Siemmen , leading company in the sector located in Germany. The degrees related to Catering and Tourism add a 71% and the students were staff of hotels and travel agencies in chain firms such as,for example Hilton in countries like Poland, or other companies in England,Austria and Hungary. They do appreciated this chance as highly profitable. Note that Tourism Industry in extremely importan in Canarias. Finally, the 13% remaining belong to the service sector, but also to the field of administration who were in companies of Irland and Germany. In all cases, besides the professional oportunity, is taken into consideration the added value of the language and the life experience in a personal level. Some enterprises wanted to hire some of the students abroad although only two accepted . So far we know , few days after they finally got their degree and already back in Las Palmas, four more students has been employed in diferent companies . The proyect Erasmus, is, increasingly the brand of our institution. The motivation of the new students is detected by the rise in the requests received to appear as participans in the next course.
