This Final Beneficiary Report details the progress and developments for the Erasmus+ project Learning Mobility of Individuals, Mobility of Learners and Staff, Higher education student and staff mobility, Technische Universiteit Eindhoven / TU/e, NL EINDHOV 17
The overall aim of the project is to participate in the Erasmus+ programme as part of TU/e’s strategy for internationalization. During 2014-2016 efforts have been made to further internationalize the student population, the teaching program and the university culture through:
1.increasing the number of TU/e students with experience abroad
2.increasing the intake of international students
3.expanding the cooperation with universities abroad.
To meet these objectives, TU/e set up a special project team at the beginning of 2015. The project team aims at promoting, supporting and implementing the International Experience Programme in the Graduate School, which means that a large majority of the graduates should have an international experience by 2020. Performance agreements have been installed per department/master programme. By pursuing this strong incentive policy, the number of incoming students also increases which is important in creating an international teaching environment, bringing different cultural perspectives to interactions both inside and outside the class room. Extra inter-institutional agreements for student and teaching staff mobility have been set up with the selected transnational partner institutions, often from the institutional networks. TU/e delivered the planned numbers of student and teaching staff mobilities and ensured that all outgoing and incoming students, professors and staff, had equal opportunities to participate in the project.
The results show that the Erasmus+activities led to an expansion of TU/e students’ opportunities to acquire additional skills by staying abroad at the high quality partner institutions. 90% of the TU/e students reported an improvement of their intercultural competences and their autonomy thanks to the Erasmus+ stay. 90% of the teaching staff reported an increase of the job satisfaction thanks to the Erasmus+ stay. 95% of the incoming students and staff reported they were satisfied with their mobility experience at TU/e.
With a view to longer-term benefits, TU/e is very satisfied with:
-the students’ results in this respect, as it considers students’ participation in Erasmus+ a good preparation for the global labor market
-the teaching staff results in this respect, as it considers an increase of job satisfaction for teaching staff very important and an invaluable asset
-the presence on campus of students and staff from the transnational partners. Their presence adds to the international community at TU/e.
