Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

At Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), the Erasmus+ Programme successfully supports the institutional and international strategic aims of both knowledge creation and knowledge dissemination. We are an internationally engaged institution with exchange, partnership and research activities on every continent. Our international interactions benefit the whole staff and student body wherever they are based, and they are also particularly important for our graduates who are increasingly required to have an understanding of global problems and solutions. Our participation in the Erasmus+ Programme forms a key part of our continuing internationalisation. Our links to Erasmus+ partner institutions will enable us to raise our international profile and enhance mobility opportunities for students, as we aim to increase outward student mobility by providing the maximum number of students with the opportunity to spend a year, semester or a shorter period of time abroad. Furthermore, we aim to increase participation in Erasmus+ staff mobility by offering professional development opportunities in Europe to both our teaching and non-teaching staff members. Through our participation in the Erasmus+ programme we support our participants in the acquisition of competences to improve their personal development. We further aim to increase the participants? awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries, and to build an extensive network of international contacts. As a university we aim to enhance the international dimension in education, and to improve our curriculum by learning from other European HEIs. In total, we facilitated 112 mobilities during the 2014-15 academic year. 33 of our students undertook a traineeship mobility, while 70 students went to study at one of our Erasmus+ partner universities. Finally, we realised 5 teaching and 4 training mobilities for our staff members. While the majority of our student mobilities take place within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the staff mobilities are widely spread across the university. In both our student and staff exchanges, participants have come from a range of different backgrounds. The participation in the programme has increased our students? employability and has improved their career prospects. It has further increased their sense of initiative and self-esteem. Most of them will have improved their language competences. All participants (students and staff) will have enhanced their intercultural awareness and have increased motivation to take part in future education or training periods abroad. The participation in an Erasmus+ staff mobility is an opportunity to increase personal and professional career development. Staff have improved their competences linked to their professional profiles by sharing new practices and learning from colleagues abroad. As a university we have improved our management skills and our internationalisation. Through the Erasmus+ programme we will be able to provide more attractive programmes to our students and staff in the future.
