Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

CARTHAGO Consortium consists of the following institutions: the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the PFIC Carlos III, the PFIC Hotels and Tourism, IES Polytechnic, all from the area of Cartagena and the Fundation University Enterprise of the Region of Murcia. The main objective of CARTHAGO project is to improve employability of graduates of the participating sending institutions, all belonging to the area of Cartagena, thanks to the transnational internships in companies in other European countries. CARTHAGO 2914 has managed 26 internships. Our target group, have been recent graduates who, despite having a high level of training, after completion of their studies, are not able to find a job or they work in jobs that are not in accordance with their professional qualifications. This situation has been aggravated by the current economic crisis and the massive unemployment that has caused. They have been recent graduates without or limited professional experience, with great difficulty in finding their first jobs and high levels of job insecurity. In the management process of placements the following institutions have participated, according to the division of responsibilities: 1) the FUERM , responsible for the overall management and coordination of the project; 2) the host companies, designating a tutor to monitor and evaluate the progress of the participant; 3) The sending institutions: they have selected the candidates, collaborated in the project dissemination as well as in the recruitment of potential future participants; 4) the participant, who has fulfilled the goals of the placement. The phases of the project are: Promotion and dissemination of placements, selection of participants, linguistic and cultural preparation, monitoring and evaluation, recognition of the placements and preparation of reports to the National Agency. The management of CARTHAGO project within a consortium has provided a high added value because efforts are combined and results are maximized through the joint management of resources, ensuring the quality in the project implementation thanks to a continuous monitoring and the preparation of corresponding progress reports. The educational sending institutions had prior experience in transnational placements but, up to now, they had not worked individually for the placements of recent graduates. In parallel, FUERM, coordinator of the consortium, has a wide previous experience of over 20 years in the management of transnational placements for graduates. So, joining both institutional profiles, participants have benefited from higher opportunities, expanding the offer of host countries to all participants in the programme, increasing the quality of placements that have been adapted to the profile and needs of the participants. This project in consortium have had a clear impact on improving employment opportunities for young and recent graduates. CARTHAGO Project, thanks to this transnational programme for placements in European companies, has enhanced incorporation of the participants into the labour market and improved their professional and personal skills, offering them, the possibility to obtain a practical training to complete their studies and support their professional careers. The mobility has enabled them to carry out in a company a period of structured work linked to their previous training, approaching them to the practical business world, in a multicultural environment and in another language. The great majority of participants have underlined the high added value of the placements in their professional and personal lives. They were positively satisfied with their mobilities. The host companies and institutions participating in the project were also very satisfied with the results of their participation in CARTHAGO 2014, having in their companies for at least 3 months, human resources with high level of training and qualification. As a consequence, most companies have expressed their interest in keeping collaborating with FUERM in this issue.
