Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The context of the Project is to foster, develop and implement mobility opportunities for learners and staff from the University of East Anglia, across a wide range of international partners, both academic and work-based. The key objectives of the Project are to maintain and enhance the practices and principles of the ECH, expanding the number and type of opportunities sought by students, graduates, academic and professional staff. We are pleased to have achieved 100% of our student mobility targets for 2014-15, with 31% participation rate from students from disadvantaged backgrounds. We initially had ambitions to exceed these targets, however the uncertainty surrounding the new paperwork requirements, the introduction of the OLS and the timescale of implementation led to delays in implementation at the University. In particular, the introduction of placement funding for Graduate Traineeships proved problematic, as significant new processes and systems involving several departments needed to be established to ensure compliance. However, we will have our first cohort of graduate interns during 2015-16 and this should lead to significant increases in future. There has been a small, steady increase in Erasmus staff mobility over the duration of the predecessor project, with increases in participation from Schools of Study/Departments and in the number of destinations. This is a direct result of an increase in the level of institutional promotion across academic and professional services. With the implementation of the new Erasmus+ Project there has been an increased interest in staff mobility, although not all opportunities have been fulfilled due to the complex nature of staff mobility and individuals timescales and timetables. The measurable impact of the Project and other internationalisation activities across the University can be demonstrated by the introduction of new course structures within Schools of Study previously uninvolved with student mobility. These course structures include new 4 year degrees with an integrated year abroad and a more flexible teaching model within existing 3 year degrees. We have also implemented a Returner's Conference, inviting all returning students to attend a dedicated suite of sessions, coordinated by the Study Abroad Office and delivered by the University's Professional Careers Service. The key aim of the Conference was to provide a toolkit for students to enhance and utilise the skills and knowledge gained from their mobility experience and to relate these to employability and personal development. This has had a positive impact upon this cohort of students and will be repeated each cycle.
