Higher education student and staff mobility project
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Cranfield University has a proud history of international collaboration including a strong European Partnership Program (EPP) that complements over 100 inter-institutional agreements with European Institutions. The EPP offers the opportunity for highly motivated students to combine the final year of their undergraduate studies with one of the Cranfield degree programs. Successful completion of the Cranfield MSc will normally also be accredited by the home institution as equivalent to the final year of study. Cranfield students have the opportunity to undertake a mobility for study or research at the large number of high quality of institutions with which we have a partnership. The objectives of the Cranfield University Erasmus+ project was to provide mobility funding for the purposes of staff teaching and staff training and student mobility for studies and traineeships. Cranfield also receives incoming students and staff on Erasmus+ mobility trips. In total 12 students and 6 staff from Cranfield University undertook an Erasmus+ mobility. Cranfield was the receiving institutions for over 300 Erasmus+ students. Impact and internationalisation feature prominently in the Cranfield University Corporate Plan. It identifies four areas of strategic priority which culminates in the ambition that Cranfield University be renowned for our impact and influence - regionally, nationally and internationally. By sending our staff and students on Erasmus+ mobility activities Cranfield University is able to showcase the world leading research capabilities and learning programme. The opportunity to come to Cranfield University as an incoming Erasmus+ student is highly competitive and this results in the highest quality students coming from our European partner institutions. These high calibre students are appreciated by staff and students here at Cranfield University and also by industry clients that host group projects and commission research. The Cranfield University Corporate Plan correlates closely with the HE modernisation agenda and the Erasmus+ project is a key part of this by promoting the mobility of staff and students and cross border cooperation. Students to Cranfield University enjoy and appreciate the strong practical focus that their learning contains such as field trips and group projects with industry. Participants report that the impacts this has includes enhanced self-confidence, time management and managing group dynamics skills. Outgoing students are similarly able to experience contrasting teaching and learning frameworks which improve their personal development and learning capabilities. At a regional, local and national level an example of the impact that the project has had is the appointment of a number of incoming Erasmus+ students to engineering positions at leading UK firms. Attracting outstanding students to Cranfield and the UK benefits an industry where there are significant skills shortages. Holding an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education is a key tool to European co-operation and the value of this document is recognised as a symbol of quality by all institutions. Cranfield University continues to forge partnerships under its double degree European Partnership Program and the Erasmus+ programme is key to many students studying under these provisions. Staff mobility trips under Erasmus+ have resulted in further partnerships being established to pursue other funding and collaboration resulting in joint publication of journal and thesis papers. Erasmus+ students have contributed to the success of important research projects in developing countries that look to improve water supply quality and sanitation which will have long term benefits to many communities.
