Within the Erasmus+ project 2014/2015 held by the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw (hereinafter referred to as UKSW or University) the following mobility activities have been implemented: outgoing and incoming student mobility for studies, outgoing student and recent-graduate mobility for traineeships, outgoing and incoming staff mobility for teaching as well as outgoing and incoming staff mobility for training. In total, 133 outbound mobility activities and 71 inbound mobility activities were carried out.
As part of the former above category, the following outgoing mobility activities have been carried out: 61 student mobility undertaking part of study programme at partner universities, among them 13 representing the disadvantaged backgrounds; 24 student mobility for traineeships at institutions from within EU countries, among them 15 of recent graduates; 29 academic staff mobility for teaching at partner universities; 19 staff mobility for training at partner universities and international organizations. As part of the latter above category, UKSW hosted the following number of mobility: 59 student mobility undertaking part of study programme; 8 academic staff mobility for teaching; 4 staff mobility for training activities.
The assumed specific aims of all the exchange categories within students and staff mobility have been accomplished. All the mobility proceeded accurately and according to Erasmus+ rules, including the obligations resulting from the European Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and the Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS). Participation in project supported University activities in pursuing advancement of internationalisation, which at the same time constitutes one the University’s priority goal indicated in the Mission and Strategy of the UKSW for 2014-2020, adopted by the UKSW Senate on March 20th, 2014.
Almost all, as many as 96% of mobility participants were very positive about their participation in the programme. Realization of project by UKSW has significantly translated into enhancement of University international cooperation and its internationalisation. Visits of international academic staff have enabled the exchange of academic experiences between staff of various HE European institutions and have resulted in diversification of the foreign language programme offered to students. The outbound mobility allowed academic staff for establishing valuable academic contacts as well as for gaining didactic experience in international environment. The possibility of carrying our student mobility for traineeships and studies has been a valuable educational and life-affecting experience for the UKSW students. Owing to the participation in the Erasmus+ programme, they could carry out part of their studies in the acknowledged European universities and follow courses that are not offered at UKSW or conduct traineeships at institutions operating on international market. The inbound student mobility enriched the University in intercultural experiences, it contributed to valuable didactic experiences of the academic staff and enabled our students to exchange experiences related to academic education in various countries.
The University cares for institutional relations with the existing partners and actively develops new cooperation networks at the European and international level alike. The objective is to improve the quality of education and promote European higher education through constant exchange of “know-how”, educational experiences, or sharing the academic resources, thus, through developing high quality curriculum. In that regard, the implemented project was a significant step preparing the University to submit applications within other Erasmus+ actions, among them Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships (application submitted in 2015 and 2016 selection rounds), Key Action 2 – Capacity building within the HE sector (application submitted in 2015 and 2016 selection rounds), Key Action 107 – International Credit Mobility (application submitted in 2016), Jean Monnet Activities (application submitted in 2015).
