Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In its Integrated Policy Plan for Internationalisation Ghent University defines the priorities in internationalisation for 2014-2018. For many years Ghent University has been one of the most active international players in the field of higher education both in Flanders and Europe. However, the university leadership deemed the development of an integrated strategy necessary in order to tackle future challenges with a pro-active and coordinated policy. The Integrated Policy Plan for Internationalisation creates a framework for bottom-up initiatives in a setting of quality control and transparency, and sets the context for strategic partnerships.. This Integrated Policy Plan voor Internationalisations has five strategic goals. One of them is that Ghent University internationalises its education as much as possible by structurally embedding mobility of students and staff and internationalisation@home. The means for this are increasing the outgoing exchange mobility to 25% by 2020; expanding the English-taught course and programme offer; strengthening the interaction between local and international students; engaging academic staff as multipliers of internationalisation; reforming internationalisation@home: from projects to structural support. For Ghent University the Erasmus+ programme is very important as a multiplier for international mobilty. Ghent University has been an active player in the Erasmus Programme and counts a growing number of participants. All faculties en programmes are involved in student mobilty (inbound and outbound). The profile of the outbound students is very various. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds form 15 % of the total outbound population. Students go on Erasmus for different purposes: study (taking coures), internships or in the framework of their masterthesis. The numbers of Erasmus Traineeships are rather small. The reason for this is that not all programmes have an embedded traineeship in the curriculum. Ghent univeristy has a broad offer on destinations. Ghent Univeristy outbound students do their Erasmus in all participating countries. Favourite destinations are Spain, France and Germany. The numbers of staff mobilities for teaching stays stable. Many professors find it hard to find a time slot in their day to day work for participatin in a staff exchange.Staff who do participate are very happy with their experience. More and more administrative staff of Ghent University participate in a staff exhange for training purposes. Staff of different offices (ICT, architects, quality support services....) participate in the Erasmus+ programme. The International Relations Office at central level coordinates the different actions within KA1 Learning Mobility for Individuals concerning and offers fast, apt and specified input on new opportunities towards all different sections of the university. In the 11 faculties the Faculty Commission of Internationalisation is responsible for the academic quality. Communication between the central level and the faculties is streamlined through day to day communication, meetings and the Board for Internationalisation Policy, including all stakeholders. The International Relations Office informs the faculties on the novelties of the Erasmusprogramme and is respnsible of the administrative and social care of the outbound and inbound students Students receive information on several practicalities such as language preparation, insurances, housing, visa, grants...
